Oaks barrier draw: WA filly drawn wide, mixed results for local hopes

Western Australian filly She’s Fit will have to overcome a wide barrier in Saturday’s $502,250 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

She's Fit, a winner of the WA Oaks before running third against the boys in the WATC Derby drew barrier 16 and Group 3 Adrian Knox winner Arts from the Edward Cummings (gate 13) stable add intrigue to a race that features two last start winners from the Maher/Eustace yard. Port Adelaide Guineas winner Jennilala drew towards the inside in barrier two while John Allen will have to produce a gem of a ride on Auraria Stakes winner Affaire A Suivre, who drew barrier 18.

Damien Oliver will ride the third Maher and Eustace runner Running On Time, while Michael Dee will partner Amati from the Chris Waller stable.

Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young will have two runners in search of second successive Oaks after winning last year's feature with Glint Of Hope, Whakamana drawing perfectly in gate three with stable Starianne to jump from barrier five.

Local hopes with rest with the Leon Macdonald pair of Party Princess (barrier seven), who was scratched from the Auraria Stakes on race morning, and stablemate Arugamama (gate 12) and while Dan Clarken and Oopy Macgillivray's More Reward faces a wide barrier drawn in 15.

Adelaide Jockey Premiership leader Jake Toeroek retains the ride on the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained As Time Goes By, who scored a narrow Clare Lindop Stakes win earlier this month. Jacob Opperman will partner Anphina from barrier four, while fellow apprentice Teagan Voorham has been booked for first emergency Rich Result for the John and Chris Ledger stable.
