2017 PREMIER’S CUP – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Good competitive affair for this year's Listed Premier's Cup with a number of handy stayers set to clash. Speed anticipated from both Classic Uniform and Broadside.

LOYALTY MAN was no match for Arbeitsam last start however clearly no knock on that form and he is certainly more than capable. Effort two back at Randwick leaves him well placed and he shapes as one of the hardest to beat.

BROADSIDE went into the paddock in great form and remains a big watch fresh for the Waterhouse and Bott stable. Since trialled well off a break and has won fresh in the past. Likely to roll across from the wide draw and should be in this for a long way.

CLASSIC UNIFORM finished second behind Arbeitsam last start and has to be kept safe from the soft draw.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained gelding Dee I Cee was a surprise $41 winner. Having his second run this preparation, he was third early on before settling back in sixth place (on the rails) behind a solid pace. He switched out rounding the home turn, got to the front at the 100m then went on to score decisively in a good staying effort, and in smart time. The favourite Classic Uniform went to the front, ran along at a good tempo (with Broadside at his girth), held a good break at the 300m, before tiring in the latter stages for second after running a bold race. Centre Pivot raced in second last place in the eight-horse field and made good ground to take the minor placing.
