A full-brother to Little Big Bear, Whistlejacket had run into a good winner in Cowardofthecounty on debut at the Curragh in late April. Dropping back to five furlongs for the First Flier Stakes, the No Nay Never colt made all under Ryan Moore, drawing clear in the final furlong to score by three-and-three-quarter lengths from Arizona Blaze.

"He's a fast horse, he's progressing nicely. I'd say five or six (furlongs) will be no problem, he has plenty of speed for five anyway," said O'Brien.

"The last day it was six, but he's not short of speed. I don't think he will (run again before Ascot), he's had two runs. You never know, but I don't think so."

Paddy Power reacted to the victory by shortening the colt from 12/1 to 7/1 for the Coventry Stakes.
