Jomo To Bounce Back

3 minute read

The Lee Freedman trained Jomo tasted his first defeat last start, however he lost no admirers and is worth following at Kranji this evening.

Due to contest the sixth event, the son of All Too Hard is sure to relish the step up to 1200m, having finished a narrow second in his return over 1000m.

Sent out favourite, Jomo was surprisingly slow away from the middle draw and ended up getting a long way back.

Pulled to the centre on straightening, he appeared to be struggling early doors, before really picking up late.

While unable to reel in the winner Elite Power his performance held plenty of merit and he is sure to be much better over further.

More notably, it was his strongest performance against the clock and it will take a very good horse to beat him this evening.

The return to the turf track is also a tick (1/1) and expect him to be a lot more prominent stepping up to 1200m.

Leading rider Daniel Moor continues his association with the four-year-old and he certainly appears well placed.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, Jomo holds a clear edge over his rivals and given he remains open to further improvement, he should take a power of beating.

The James Peters trained Mr Hooper returned in a big way last start and while stepping up sharply in grade, he is expected to measure right up.

Only lightly raced, Mr Hooper spaced his rivals first up when far too good at this course and distance.

Ridden aggressively from the wide draw, Mr Hooper gave his rivals little hope, leading throughout to score by 5.5L.

He returned decent figures in the process and is expected to adopt similar tactics this evening.

No question this is a big step up, but he still looms as a major threat.

The Dan Meagher trained Elise hasn't been far off the mark in recent efforts and has to be respected down in the weights.

He possesses a great record at this course and distance and has drawn to receive all the favours on the inside.

Best form leaves him right there and he has to be kept safe.

Of the rest the Michael Clements trained Safeer appears the next in line.

His performance last start behind Boy Wonder was solid enough and although drawn a touch awkwardly, he still cannot be taken lightly.

Good luck and happy punting.
