Exceed And Excel colt Bivouac made a stunning rebound at Rosehill on Saturday when he mastered a hot field for his fourth career stakes win in the G2 Run To The Rose.
Bivouac ended his juvenile campaign with a dominant victory in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes in April and resumed with an emphatic win in the G3 Vain Stakes at Caulfield last month before a heavy track dulled his brilliance in the G3 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill when second to another Exceed And Excel product Exceedance.
Back on a good surface last Saturday, Bivouac showed explosive acceleration at the 200m to spear clear for a two lengths win over highly rated rivals Yes Yes Yes, Exceedance, Kubrick, Prince Fawaz and Dawn Passage.
The James Cummings-trained colt responded to an important gear change with the blinkers he had been wearing removed.
"It was a masterstroke by James taking the blinkers off, he probably did need those early days but he's a lot more switched on," stable representative Darren Beadman said.
A Godolphin homebred, Bivouac has won four of his eight starts and prize-money of $488,700.
He boasts a top class pedigree as he is out of a half-sister to the multiple G1 winner Guelph, dam of the G2 winner Encryption (Lonhro), and also the G2 winner and sire Ghibellines.
Bivouac's dam is the More Than Ready mare Dazzler, a daughter of the G1 AJC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Camarilla (Elusive Quality). Camarilla's dam Camarena won the G1 Queensland Derby and is from the family of noted sire Canny Lad.
Dazzler is also the dam of the G2 placed Coruscate and the family also includes the four-time G1 winner and sire Sepoy (Elusive Quality), a background that establishes Bivouac as a valuable stud prospect.
Dazzler has a yearling filly by Medaglia d'Oro and is in foal to Lonhro. She is due to go back to Exceed And Excel this spring.
Bivouac is now set for the $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 28,a race the Godolphin have won twice since 2015 with Astern (Medaglia d'Oro) and Exosphere (Lonhro), colts that are now both at stud.
They both won the Run To The Rose en route to the Golden Rose.
